Katrina's art classes are a joy and a pleasure to attend, she teaches us the basics of drawing in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Each student is treated as an individual and I am really interested in drawing, whilst others in the group wish to paint. Katrina instructs and guides us through the class to allow us the freedom to develop our own talents. I find these classes very therapeutic, to switch off from my daily life and concentrate for two and a half hours on drawing, trying to create a 3D picture on a flat surface, amazing. A chance conversation one Wednesday morning resulted in me being introduced to Katrina and starting drawing lessons the following week. Up to this point I had never been taught to draw but it was something I wished I could do! Four lessons in of a six week course I am growing in confidence and I feel Katrina has passed on to me skills and confidence to draw and produce sketches that I am now proud to show others. With Katrina’s teaching, support and encouragement my family have been surprised how quickly I have mastered a new skill. In these difficult times due to COVID, learning to draw has given me a new hobby to do in my spare time, I have met new people in a safe, friendly and non-judgemental environment and, most importantly to me, I feel I am beginning to master a skill that I thought I would never be able to achieve. On my third "Theory of Colour" lesson with Katrina, I put up a post on my personal fb showing the finished colours of the gladioli's that I painted and mixed the colours to match (unfortunately, I am unable to post these photos with this review). It was an exercise in colour matching and it was not until the picture was against the gladioli's that I could see how similar it was by just mixing primary colours and white for certain shades. The 6 week drawing course was excellent and I have a passion and thirst for more colour knowledge to enhance my other interests of style/fashion, home decoration, hairdressing and arts and crafts in general. The drawing was to help me with shape, line & proportion, again for other interests. Katrina adapts the skills she teaches accordingly. Her knowledge of art is incredible and her experiences of using it and supporting various business types makes her a unique and adaptable tutor. There is no time for coasting in her lesson or thinking about your shopping list! The lesson is planned and adapted to you with help and support throughout. Some of the tasks did push me and gently, with encouragement, Katrina finds another direction to take it to, so you learn the skill, feel the achievement and the "aha" experience (every lesson for me). It is an absolute treat to work in the studio within a small group. I have a 90 mile round trip to go to class, it is absolutely worth it 🌞

Katrina is a fantastic teacher and a great colourist - so encouraging and kind, my weekly lesson is a lifeline!
