I genuinely cannot believe how ridiculously inefficient and genuinely dangerous this GP is. I have severe pregnancy sickness, and I called to get a prescription that I had to seek privately first because I was desperate, to then have them issue a one off prescription, only to have to continue chasing to get a repeat prescription, for them to make me speak to a GP, who then did NOT TO SIGN IT OFF despite them saying they would when I called earlier and repeatedly chased!!!! I will now be in a position over the weekend WITHOUT Xonvea, and will guaranteed be EXTREMELY sick on Sunday and Monday until they sign off the prescription. The level of incompetence, time wasting, and sheer danger of just not signing off a PRE AUTHORISED prescription is insane to me.

If your to the area an are looking for a local GP I’d save your time I turned up without an appointment to ask if I was having an allergic reaction (which turned out to be hives) I was turned away by a rude receptionist and then went to Margate hospital where the doctor started googling my symptoms I’m sorry you work for the NHS and you don’t know what hives are that’s outrageous then I had to travel back to dash-wood medical centre to pick up anti inflammatory whilst I was having an outbreak and then when I arrived an had to wait in a queue for 15 minutes they then said the medication has been sent back and there was nothing they could do…

Today, was the first time I've visited the practice for a while. The whole experience was excellent. After submitting the long winded (or thorough depending on your view,) Anima, I received a call from the surgery offering me an appointment later that day. I was seen on time, and after assessment and examination, I was referred for an x-ray and physiotherapy. I made the physio appointment at the surgery for a couple of weeks time, but this could have been sooner if I didn't have to arrange around work. The x-ray I booked online myself. There was a choice of appointments. I booked mine roughly an hour later, again, I was seen on time. All the staff I met today were friendly, helpful and professional. A very positive experience that I could not fault. Thank you.

I have been trying to get an appointment at dashwood house for over 5 weeks. Phone always busy line or get in a queue of ten only for the phone to get cut off when I get to 2 in the queue. Today I queued up outside the surgery for 20 minutes at 8am only to be told by a very abrupt receptionist at the door that this surgery has 'No Doctors on site' so why even stay as a operating surgery? The reason for no doctors here? They are doing private work in other areas whilst they are still claiming 80k salaries from the NHS disgusting practice £££££ also Dr mhummed is rude and arrogant.

Almost impossible to get seen at any useful time and can’t book appt without calling 8am on the dot on the day you need it. Reception staff will sit staring into space while you’re at the counter and only answer when they’re good and ready. Only thing earning the second star is that when you do finally get seen the dr is friendly.
Edit: have upped to four stars because since changing system they use for booking appointments. Much easier now!

I have had the pleasure of speaking to helpful receptionists, medical secretaries and prescription clerks.
Yes getting through is a pain and econsult is down today hence 4 stars but overall I've found staff to be helpful.

Dr Ricks called my mum on the phone this week and I was disgusted at how she spoke to my mum. she has terminal cancer and is palliative however she is still very much alive and a lovely human and should be treated as such. However Dr Ricks was rude, dismissive, unprofessional and lacked any care or compassion and left my mum feeling frustrated, upset and helpless. The fact that she is a senior partner and I believe joint owner is shocking to me.
Mum can’t speak very well on the phone and this is very evident and Dr Ricks just talked at my mum (who I will add is not an old lady and has all her facilities) she was asked what do you want? Whilst mum named a few problems she was told speak to the district nurse and told you can’t just request a home visit/appointment?!?
Mum having re-registered over a week ago has had zero contact from the surgery, when we registered in surrey she was seen within days and was offered home appointments by the doctors whenever she wanted. As a new patient the surgery /doctors should meet with mum to have a full run through of her medications and medical needs (which are not just cancer) instead she has been treated like an annoyance, someone who is dying so not important and left feeling unheard and worthless.
Dr Ricks should be ashamed of herself and ask herself. Would she be happy for her, her family and friends to be treated like this?!? I will be furthering this complaint officially and moving my mums doctors. Absolutely unprofessional and uncaring person. Shame on you!

Everything is hard work. Everything has to be chased repeatedly. EVERY month i have to beg for my prescription early because i rely on royal mail to deliver and theres no flexibility whatsoever. So today im told to change pharmacy.
I'm happy with MY CURRENT PHARMACY why should i have to change because the surgery can't be sensible? Yet again the patients right to choose means nothing. Nothing is done by same person, it's sent to hubs or district nurse and then district nurse says they are not qualified to deal with referrals sent or the referal takes weeks and goes to the wrong place because the surgery doesn't know the district nurse is not qualified in needed referal. Care delayed significantly as a result. I was told I was diabetic for first time by the RECEPTIONIST which is unacceptable. Its a gps job to make and give diagnosis and allow the patient time to ask questions or discuss concerns. Nope life changing diagnosis at 46 given by a receptionist. My blood sugar was dangerously high and low and repeat calls despite advised by diabetic team and 111 that urgent GP appointment was required were IGNORED. I still waited 5 weeks to speak to nurse and still have had no education. I was told everyone gets medication i was put on and it wouldn't cause hypo. Yes well no-one bothered hearing i have other conditions that mean this medication is NOT appropriate for me and I go hypo every afternoon. No appointment with diabetic team until February having been diagnosed in October last year. It's absolutely clear to me why CQC were concerned. No-one knows who deals with what. My consultants wanted me urgently started on medication pre surgery on 13 December. I emailed the letter to them 19th December. It's still at the hub with the duty dr despite urgent. No possible way to talk to the dr. You cannot get past the reception who with no medical training decide if you can talk to a dr. Or discuss your concerns with the dr knowing absolutely nothing because you get cut off before you can get a sentence out. If blood sugars swinging between 3.2 and 33 isn't urgent I don't know what is. I bet my death certificate would be done promptly as they get paid a ridiculous amount for doing it. I feel unsafe and treated like cattle. In words of the practice nurse " we put everyone on this medication "
Well I'm not everyone. I'm me and an individual and have a right to choose what medication i take and what treatment i accept. It is part of the patient charter and nice guidelines and expected as usual practice by the cqc. This surgery gave me no choice, refused to listen to my choice based on medical knowledge not just because of basic worries, put me on medication i knew was unsuitable and now i have the side effects that could have been prevented by appropriate medication choice.
But because its cheap and readily available thats what i get and sod the medical history. Everyone rushes you through appointments to the point you are aware they are trying to get you off the phone list ASAP. 3 minutes is about average. It's so bad if I need to contact the surgery i feel stressed to near tears.
I was disabled working as a qualified nurse for the NHS. I didn't ASK for this disability. I didn't want to be housebound. But because I am, I'm treated like a second rate drain on resources. consultant requested 3 monthly blood tests and medication. It wasn't done because they couldn't find the request letter and my word was not enough. A phone call to the professor to confirm was clearly too much to ask for while I developed unstable diabetes and was reporting all the symptoms to the surgery noone recognised because I couldn't talk to a trained person for a reasonable time to explain symptoms
I have worked with over 50 GP surgeries in my career and have never known such difficulties. The systems in place are for staff convenience not patient wellbeing and show the slightest of frustration they have the we will take you off our books line ready. I have tried to persevere but I feel unsafe in this surgeries so called care.
